Sul.

an{\'a}lise multicrit{\'e}rio.

maintaining natural biodiversity. Studies to understand the forest
dynamics may assist in mitigation and environmental compensation
result from the human impact on the environment. In the present
study, the araucaria forest was mapped through satellite images of
Landsat 5 in the northeast region of Rio Grande do Sul state. The
mapping was used as basis for the statistical analysis of the
forest relation with fi ve types of geomorphometric variables
derived from SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data and
watershed (scale 1:50.000). The relation of tree vegetation
occurrence along the relief through a map of potential areas to
forest shaping was established, generated by Multi-Criteria
Evaluation. The mapped forest areas represent 27% of all study
area (9.004,38 km²). The analysis indicated the slope as a factor
in the forest spatial distribution combined to the proximity of
this vegetation with local hydrography. The map of potential
vegetation generated by the integration between slope and
hydrography represents 65% of the identifi ed forest in 2010. The
results present the possibility of forest approximation on the
grassland matrix between the Taquari-Antas and
Apua{\^e}-Inhandava watersheds, through the Touros and Cerquinha
sub-basins, both Pelotas river tributaries.",
